Amy Murray is an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) certified in the state of North Carolina. She has been providing services in the Raleigh area since 2006 in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. She has experience working with individuals dealing with relationship issues, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, life transitions, trauma, sexual identity issues, women’s issues, low self-esteem, work stressors and grief. She works with adults ages 18 and up.
Amy integrates her beliefs about wellness of mind, body, and spirit and her writing background in her work with clients. She practices yoga regularly and worked as a technical writer prior to becoming a therapist. She left her career in professional writing to pursue her passion for helping people in their life journey. Her therapy style incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), brief solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), person-centered therapy, and strengths-based counseling.
Amy has a creative and compassionate approach with the intention of being a collaborator, educator, and emotional support. She is dedicated to helping people to copy with and heal from life’s challenges. She believes that everyone has the capacity to heal using the strength and wisdom within. Her goal is to help individuals discover their individual strengths and use them to their highest benefit.
Amy graduated from East Carolina University with a Masters in Social Work in 2006. She also earned a Masters of Arts in English from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a Bachelor of Arts from University of North Carolina, and an Associates of Arts from Peace College.
