Regina Hughes is a Counseling Intern at Hidden Stream Counseling. She is a graduate student at The College of William & Mary, pursuing a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Military and Veterans Counseling. Gina completed her undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech, where she double majored in Public Relations and Economics. This background gave her a strong foundation in communication, problem-solving, and analytical thinking—skills she now applies to help clients navigate various challenges with understanding and empathy.
Gina’s approach to counseling is person-centered, focusing on each client’s unique experiences, values, and needs. She integrates evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to support clients dealing with issues like anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, perinatal challenges, and military-related difficulties. Gina aims to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes at their own pace.
In addition to working with individuals, couples, and military families, Gina is committed to providing affirming care to the LGBTGEQIAP+ community. She has completed the LGBTGEQIAP+ Affirming Counseling Training through The College of William & Mary, equipping her with the knowledge and skills to offer inclusive and culturally competent support to individuals from all backgrounds.
Gina’s dedication to professional development is evident through her active membership in the North Carolina Counseling Association, the American Counseling Association, and Postpartum Support International. She also serves as Co-chair of the Student Ambassadors at The College of William & Mary, where she supports her peers and contributes to building a strong community within the counseling program.
Outside her academic and professional work, Gina enjoys spending time with her family and her rescue pups, Rosie and Archie. She believes in the transformative power of human connection and strives to bring this philosophy into her counseling practice with every client.
